Gameplay
- Bosses drop their loot. Grathmaw and Maligast now always drop three items. Before, they often dropped nothing at all.
- Wolves at the Door now sends you up the hill to slay Grathmaw, Alpha of the Ash, instead of collecting pelts.
- No more Shift to run. Your hero always strides at full pace, and boots or jewellery with movement speed make you faster.
- Grave Brutes swing a huge maul, and their ground slam now hits where its warning circle shows, shaking the ground and throwing up stones.
- Spiders face you head-on when they bite.
Town of Ashenmoor
- Click Maud's chest itself to open your stash.
- You can now see who you are talking to: the conversation window shows the person, not just a letter.
- Highlighted buttons in conversations are fully coloured.
Interface
- The main menu is cleaner: just the game's name and the way in.
- The Codex is open. A bestiary of every creature, boss and Broken Fortress foe: where it lives, how it fights, how strong it is and what it drops.
- The map has buttons back to your Inventory, Quests and Skills, so it no longer closes the character window for good.
- When comparing items, the item you point at stays by your cursor and your equipped item sits beside it, towards your hero.
- The mouse cursor stays smooth even when the game runs slowly.
- Your explored map is now saved with your character, separately for the Starting Lands and each depth of the Broken Fortress.
- The bug report button stays on screen while the map is open.
- Item tooltips are easier to read: a darker background, brighter text and more room between lines.
- The camera keeps your hero centred when you zoom in.
- Your hero in the character window no longer looks see-through in dark armour.
The Broken Fortress
- The way down is fixed. The stair to the next depth no longer has holes around it, is lit and labelled, and carries you down from anywhere on the steps.
- The dead stay dead. Monsters in the fortress no longer come back during a visit, so a cleared depth falls silent.
- Monsters in the rooms near the heart of each depth now notice you instead of ignoring you.
- The armoury lever is a real lever that grinds the portcullis open, and nothing left lying in a doorway can block your way.
- Walls the camera cuts away no longer leave a black hole in the floor.
World
- Footprints are subtler and fade within a few seconds.
- Loot beams are tall, soft columns of light in the item's rarity colour, fading out as they rise.
- Hit sparks no longer hang in the air after an attack.
- A chest hidden under the Old Watchtower has been moved where you can reach it.
Known Issues
- Heroes are still bald in character creation; hair is on its way.
- The hero's walk and run animations are being remade.
- The Wolves at the Door conversation still mentions pelts in the spoken lines.
- One-handed weapons still swing with the two-handed animation.
- The skills page and several materials (town ground, trees, moss, bones) are being redesigned.
